Yoga is many things to many people. For me what is at the heart of yoga is relationship. Through our practice we find a link that connects the breath with the body, both our inner and outer lives, and all of nature to ourselves as well as to one another. I believe that for every person there is a yoga practice that fits that person perfectly and as a yoga teacher my intention is to offer students the chance to develop a relationship to yoga that serves them.

I met my first yoga teacher Linda Owen in her studio in downtown Milwaukee and studied with her for seven amazing (and sometimes challenging) years. She encouraged me to have a steady and mindful practice— working with the body and breath as well as developing compassion. During that time, I also studied Zen with Tozen Akiyama and later Tibetan Buddhism with Robin Kornman, a student of Chögyam Trungpa Rinpoche. After a move to the Pacific Northwest, a long and winding road brought me to the Samarya Center in Seattle, where I immediately experienced a sense of homecoming fostered by my teachers Stephanie Sisson and Molly Lannon Kenny. It was at Samarya that I realized that my true place of study has been in my own heart all along.
