I started practicing yoga from home video tapes at the age of twelve. I found freedom in the openness that it afforded my body, and the harmony found in integrating body and mind. My love for yoga grew significantly through a 200 Hour Teacher Training Program where I was inspired by my teachers Alan Gensho Florence, Steven Trowbridge and Karusia Wroblewski. It grounded my teachings in Traditional Hatha Yoga practices and Zen Meditation techniques.

I am interested in understanding our yoga practice on the mat as a transformative tool for our day-to-day practices off the mat. Finding balance in our bodies can translate into finding balance in our lives. Taking time to develop a practice of self-care and love can translate into more compassion for our selves and others. Engaging in positive collective experiences in a non-judgemental frame of mind can foster stronger and more accepting community relationships.

Exploring these possibilities has led me to developing and teaching classes in community spaces, such as the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health, and in creative cultural hubs such as the Museum of Inuit Art and Creatures Creating. To keep classes accessible I run Pay What You Can Yoga Classes in Trinity Bellwoods Park during the warmer months. My experiences also prompted me to co-develop Mindful Arts, an organization that explores community engagement through arts and mindfulness programming; it aims to create accepting spaces for people to creatively voice and listen to others' experiences.

I believe that in taking better care of ourselves, we can better take care of each other and perhaps make this world a kinder place. For this reason, I aim to make my yoga classes accessible to anyone and everyone who wants to practice.
