Yama is the first limb of the Eight Limbs of Yoga. Broken down into 5 “restraints” that we observe in relationship to the world, such as non-harming and truthfulness, they provide a framework for living a life that is free from suffering. Exploring each Yama individually reveals surprising nuances, which, with reflection and meditation, can help us to see repetitive and unhealthy habits, responses, and behaviors that can lead to unhappiness – and then, more importantly, to change them. In this 5 week workshop, you will learn the meaning and intent of each Yama, explore their practical applications in daily life, and meditate on the meaning of each in your own life.
