Life in the modern world is stressful. Given all the duties, responsibilities and stimuli that we are asked to take in and manage in the basic, day-to-day grind of life, it’s understandable if we feel overwhelmed or weighed down. The stress of life causes us to accumulate muscular tensions, emotional tensions and mental tensions which create blockages in the flow of our energy and life force. We need methods for deep relaxation, tools for the release of psychic and physiological tensions, and techniques to stay balanced and steady.

This workshop will offer therapeutic yoga techniques to create greater emotional well-being by releasing tension and dissolving the emotional blocks that hold us back from living a happy, healthy life. The yoga practices explored here will include simple asana (postures), both active and restorative, pranayama (breath work) and yoga nidra (a form of deep relaxation, meditation and visualization performed in a fully reclined position). These practices may serve not only as remedies for chronic holding patterns but also as powerful tools for personal transformation.
